Short people seem to always get the short end of the stick (pun intended). But that’s not ALWAYS true! Being short in Hollywood can sometimes lead to amazing roles that your otherwise tall brethren can’t take.

1. Danny Woodburn
Born in Philadelphia and standing and only 4 feet tall, Danny Woodburn is an American movie, TV, and stage actor. His most famous role was as Mickey Abbott on the extremely successful and wildly famous American sitcom Seinfeld. Woodburn has been diagnosed with dwarfism and is currently a popular advocate for disabled and little people issues. Woodburn is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and serves on “Performers with Disabilities” committee. Woodburn is happily married and is currently pursuing further acting and stand-up comedy possibilities.
2. Wee Man (Jason Acuna)
Most well known for his roll in the Jackass television series, Wee Man is one of the most recognizable short people in the United States. Wee man, whose real name is Jason Acuna, was born in 1973 and stands 4 feet tall. Acuna suffers from an advanced form of dwarfism called achondroplasia but has pursued a successful career in acting and professional skateboarding. Since 2001 Acuna has been participating in the Jackass series and other television and movie programs.
3. Dr. Ruth
Dr Ruth Westheimer is a famous American sex therapist and media personality. Dr Ruth is one of the tallest short people on this list standing at 4 feet 7 inches. Born in Germany in 1939, Dr Ruth came with to the United States with her parents to escape the war. While she doesn’t suffer from any form of dwarfism Dr Ruth has had to deal with being much less than the average height of a woman her entire life. Since 1980 she has been a media personality and has had a successful career in the television broadcasting industry.
4. Jyoti Amge
Jyoti Amge is one of the youngest short people in the world. Amge, who calls Nagpur, India her home, is only 2 feet tall at the age of 20. The Guinness Book of World Records declared Amge to be the world’s smallest woman in 2011. Amge suffers from the same growth anomaly as Wee Man, achondroplasia. While Amhge currently doesn’t work, she was featured in a documentary called Body Shock in 2009.
5. Gary Coleman
Gary Coleman was a famous American Actor who starred in the popular 70s and 80s sitcom Different Strokes. Described as one of televisions most promising stars, Coleman lead a successful childhood career, which promoted him into stardom. The pressure of his height, at 4 foot 6, and financial struggles resulted in Coleman claiming bankruptcy and failing to achieve the same balance of success as he reached in his younger years. Unfortunately Coleman experienced some medical problems and passed away at the young age of 42.
6. Kenny Baker
Kenny Baker is a short person standing at 3 foot 8 inches and is most famous for his role in Star Wars as the robot R2DR. Baker was born in the United Kingdom and started his acting career in 1951 as a dwarf in the circus. In 1977 while in the midst of an aspiring comedy career, Baker was approached by George Lucas and invited to play a role in his new science fiction movie Star Wars. Baker was cemented in fame for playing R2D2 who is now one of the most recognizable and famous robots in the world. Baker is still acting and has been using his dwarfism to his advantage his entire life.
7. Warwick Davis
Warick Davis is a globally famous actor, director, and comedian that suffers from dwarfism. Davis has played in some of the most famous movie roles for short people ever. The roles include playing an ewok in Star Wars, the main character Willow in the movie Willow, and the evil leprechaun in Leprechaun, a supporting role in Harry Potter, and a leading role in a popular TV show. After being handpicked to play an ewok by George Lucas, Davis continued to work in acting and television. He recently founded a theatre company. As one of the shortest men in the world, Verne Troyer stands 2 feet 8 inches tall and is most famous for his role-playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movie series. Troyer is currently in a successful career as an actor and stunt performer. He suffers from an unusual form of dwarfism called cartilage-hair hypoplasia. This is the reason for his unique look and voice. After his success in Austin Powers, Verne Troyer is a short person who would be recognized almost everyone on the planet.
9. He PingPing
He Pingping was a 2 feet 5 inches tall man and was awarded the Guinness World Record for being the world’s shortest man who was able to walk. Pinping was from China but recently suffered complications from heart problems and passed away in Italy. Pingping was classified as the world’s smallest man and lead an inspiring and honest life. He appeared on television many times and was a local hero in China. Pingping was a dwarf who suffered from the rare bone deformity osteogenesis imperfecta disorder.
